February FFFF like Fitness!!!! Let's get fit this winter! The Youth Center participates in the Défi Santé 5/30 so for 6 weeks starting the frist week of February and ends March 14! Every animation shift, 30 minutes will be devoted to physical exercise! We need you for creative ideas concerning possible physical activities to do as a group! You should also be ready to bring snow pants when asked to. We will have a detailed chart here at the center and one to bring home for the participants in order to keep track of your daily 5 servings of fruits and vegetables and your 30 minutes of exercise. The whole satff participates too!

February 13 is a very important night for the center. It is answering the need voiced by you guys at the focus group to have a 'parents' night. We will open the center to the greater community for a night of entertainment and discoveries. It is also the necessary fundraiser for the trip to Ottawa where 6 youth and 3 animators go meet with people from all over Canada to create a network of great importance for future partnerships that may result in more trips and great activities. It is your responsibility that night to bring an adult (teacher, parent, grand-parent, friend of the family, aunt, uncle, coach...) who will contribute 10$ to the activity and will get free deserts from local bakeries and free fair trade coffee and tea. It will be at 7PM. It's time to show to the greater Lennoxville and Sherbrooke how motivated, creative, active and fantastic the youths at the LYC are!

Valentine's Day! Valentine's dance! Be there!

Teen Activity Committee elections. The TAC is the core of the LYC. Without it summer trips, cool field trips, any big activities don't exist. The Youth Center is there for the YOUTH. You need to make it your own. You need to get involved. So far 6 people will be running. It's still open to many more. 5 members will be elected, a president, vice-president, secretary, tresurer and administrator. If you have any question concerning the TAC please ask an animator. The election night will be on February 21, with the speeches, the votes and the results. Please come support your friends that night and all along their campaign.

Tournoi de Hockey / Hockey Tournament

Hey gang! on a encore de la place pour de 2 à 5 joueurs pour le tournoi de hockey cosom inter maisons de jeunes qui se tiendra en Avril prochain à Danville! Faites vite pour vous inscrire parce qu'il faut envoyer la liste de joueurs avant le 6 février prochain! Si vous avez des questions demandez à un animateur.

Hey evryone! We still have room for 2 to 5 players in our team for the inter youth centers hockey tournament in Danville! We will need you ready to rock in April but we need you to sign-up before February 6. If you have any question ask an animator!

TYPS Trip To Ottawa Meeting!!!!!!!!!!

Hey TYPS guys! We have a meeting at 6 on January 30 but the Center is closed so we will have it at the Townshipper's Association space. Alanna will be at the LYC at 6 to walk with you over to the TA building (Marguerite Knapp Building 257 Queen Street) which is just a little further than the LYC. You will be able to call your parents from there if needed. So be at the LYC at 6 to meet with Alanna!

Les membres du comité Friendship day et les interressés à se joindre sont invités à une réunion créative ce samedi 24 janvier, à 7h PM. Spectacle de variété, activité surprenante et char allégorique sont nos projets jusqu'ici. Nous devons tranquillement leur donner vie. Youpi!

Members of Friendship Day Committee and others interested to join are invited to a creative meeting this Saturday January 24 at 7 PM. Variety show, surprising activity and amazing float are our projects so far so we need to give them life! yay!

New rules / Nouveaux règlements

The New Year brings new rules:

The rule concerning the 18 years old is that they are not allowed to go to the youth center anymore.

The rule concerning the 11 years old is that they are now allowed to visit on Fridays and Saturday only.

La nouvelle année ammène de nouveaux règlements:

Le règlement concernant les jeunes âgés de 18 ans et plus est qu'ils n'ont plus le droit de fréquenter le centre des jeunes.

Le règlement concernant les jeunes âgés de 11 ans est qu'ils ont droit de venir le vendredi et samedi seulement.

Falling Famous

The Underground Project is proud to host a punk rock show this Saturday, January 17! Falling Famous, a band that have been composing its own songs for about 5 months, will rock the 168-B Queen Street! Andrew M. Jackson, the lead vocalist is from Ayer's Cliff and also plays guitar. Malcolm Buckle, from Waterville is the bassist; Raf Collard is the lead guitar and is from Lennoxville, like the drumer and back up vocalist Didier Prince. Our local artists have played in bands before and are convinced of the importance of music as an art form in people's lives, Andrew said. Music is also a way to have a voice as young artists, and so this is why Falling Famous plays original compositions about whatever inspires the members: pizza, pepsi, poutine or relationships...

Le Projet Underground est fier de présenter un show punk rock ce samedi 17 janvier! Falling Famous, un groupe qui compose ses propres chansons depuis environ 5 mois, sera la pour faire trembler les murs du 168-B Queen Street! Andrew M. Jackson, d'Ayer's Cliff est chanteur et joue aussi de la guitare; Malcolm Buckle, de Waterville, est bassiste; Raf Collard est guitariste principal et vient de Lennoxville tout comme le batteur Didier Prince, qui chante aussi les 'back vocals'. Nos artistes locaux ont tous joué au sein de groupes de musique avant de former Falling Famous, et sont convaincus de l'importance de la musique en tant que forme d'art dans la vie des gens, dit Andrew. La musique c'est aussi une façon de dire ses opinions, de se faire entendre en tant que jeunes artistes, c'est pour cela que les membres composent des chansons originales sur des sujets de toutes sortes qui les inspirent: pizza, pepsi, poutine ou relations amoureuses...

Happy New Year everyone!

The Underground Project staff is eager to see you all soon!

January gives you the opportunity to make LYC yours by getting involved in the Teen Activity Committee and/or the Board of Directors. The TAC comes up with ideas of activities and make them happen. It's very essential to a youth center reflecting YOUR interests and needs. The BOD oversees the good functionning of the youth center and votes for needed changes within the LYC. Ask the animators for more info on the positions to be filled and how to run for these positions.

We're having a great music show on the 17! Be there!

Janvier vous donne l'opportunité de mettre le LYC à votre image en vous impliquant dans le Comité de jeunes et le Conseil d'administration. Le CJ représente les membres et réalise les activités qui refletent les intérêts et les besoins des jeunes du LYC. Le CA s'occupe de voir au bon fonctionnement du centre et vote pour les changements qui sont necessaires. Demandez aux animateurs pour de l'info sur les positions qui sont à combler et comment se présenter pour ces positions.

On va avoir un super show de musique le 17! On vous attends en grand nombre!
