Comme vous le saviez peut-être déjà, on a fait un sondage des membres pour savoir si vous aimeriez fermer le centre le samedi et être ouvert mardi à sa place. Le vote a été un gigantesque OUI ! Comme on essaye de prendre en conscience vos opinions on a décidé de faire ce changement-là. Au bout des dernières quelques mois il y a presque personne au Centre le samedi et c’est triste. On veut bien changer notre horaire pour que vous puissiez profiter du centre le plus possible. On comprend que la fin de semaine il est plus évident à trouver des trucs sympas à faire. Donc, dès le 1 mai ce changement prendre effet (cela veut dire que l’on est fermé le 1 mai – par contre on fait un lave-auto pendant l’après-midi, rejoignez-nous !). C’est-à-dire que mardi le 4 mai on est ouvert pour la soirée ! Merci à tous les membres qui ont voté. On essayera cette modification puis si cela ne marche pas, on trouvera une autre solution J

As you may already know, we did a survey of youth members to see if you’d like us to be closed on Saturdays and be open on Tuesdays instead. The vote was an overwhelming YES! As we like to take into account your opinion we’ve decided to make this change. For the past few months there has been barely anyone at the center on Saturday nights, and it’s sad. We want to change our schedule so that you can take full advantage of the center. We understand that it’s easier to find fun things to do on the weekend. So, effective May 1^st the youth center will be closed on Saturdays (that means that we are closed this coming Saturday – but we’ll be doing a car wash in the afternoon so you should come join us!). This means that Tuesday, may 4^th we will be open for the evening. Thank you to all of the members who voted. We will give this change a try and if it doesn’t work, we’ll find another solution J

Summer Trip News/Nouvelles du Voyage d’Été

See Canada’s famous CN Tower! Dine at the hip Hard Rock Cafe. Catch a Blue Jays game at the Sky Dome or maybe check out some legends at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Do a little shopping at the Eaton Center or perhaps see a cheetah up close and personal at the zoo. This year’s LYC summer trip will be to....you guessed it – Toronto, Ontario!

Here’s how it works:

The LYC summer trip is organized by youth for youth. The Teen Activity heads the organization of fundraisers and meetings, but everyone has a say in the planning process. The T.A.C meets on a monthly basis to discuss upcoming events as well as the interests of fellow members. Staff members are present to provide support and assistance and also attend the summer trip as chaperones and facilitators.

All members of the Lennoxville Youth Center are eligible to attend this awesome trip. Not a member but are between the ages of 12 and 17? Then stop by 168b Queen Street and have an animator help you fill out your membership contract. It’s simple, straight-forward and can be completed in a matter of minutes!

The final decision of participants in this event is up to the staff of the Lennoxville Youth Center. Participation in fundraising events as well as being an active part of the Youth Center are both incredibly important. As well, we pay particular attention to youth adherence to the code of conduct. This in turn gives us a good idea of who can/can’t remain respectful of others, property and themselves. The trip is meant to be a meaningful and rewarding experience for everyone, hence the reason why we evaluate each member to see if they are capable of being responsible, active and respectful during the summer trip.

As a general rule, you must participate in the majority of fundraisers in order to attend this trip. We feel it is only fair that everyone do an equal part of the work necessary to enjoy this free vacation. If you are unavailable to participate in a fundraiser for a valid reason, special arrangements can be made.

Interested? Well now’s your chance to lend a helping hand. Thursday, April 29^th, 2010 we will be conducting a bottle drive throughout the borough of Lennoxville. All youth are to meet at the Youth Center at approximately 7:15 pm. If you’re not free that night then you have another option: Saturday, May 1^st we will be holding a car wash from 11am to 3pm behind the Town Hall. Again, all youth are to meet at the Youth Center at approximately 10:30am.

Voir la fameuse Tour CN ! Dîner au cool Café Hard Rock. Voir un jeu des Blue Jays au Sky Dome ou si vous préférez, jeter un coup d’œil aux légendes qui se trouvent au Temple des Renommés d’Hockey. Faire un peu de shopping au Centre Eaton ou peut-être observer un guépard de vos propres yeux au zoo. Le voyage d’été du Centre des Jeunes Lennoxville aura lieu à….vous l’avez deviné, Toronto, Ontario.

Voici comment ça marche :

Le voyage d’été du MDJ Lennoxville est organisé par des jeunes pour des jeunes. Le Conseil des Jeunes gère l’organisation des levées de fonds et les réunions, mais tout le monde a le droit de parole au processus de planning. Le Conseil des Jeunes se réunit tout les mois pour discuter des événements à venir et aussi les intérêts des membres du centre. Les employés du centre sont présents pour offrir du soutien et assistance et seront aussi là durant le voyage d’été comme chaperons et facilitateurs.

Tous les membres du Centre des Jeunes sont éligibles pour nous accompagner sur ce voyage. Vous n’êtes pas membre mais vous avez entre 12 et 17 ans ? Venir nous voir à 168B rue Queen et un animateur vous aiderez à remplir votre contrat du membre. C’est simple, franc, et ne prendra plus que quelques minutes à compléter !

La décision finale des participants est prise par les employés du Centre. La participation aux levées de fonds et être actif au centre sont tout les deux importants. De plus, nous faisons attention en particulier à l’adhérence du code de conduite. Ceci nous permet d’évaluer qui peut/ne peut pas rester respectueux envers les autres, eux-mêmes et les biens des autres. Ce voyage est censé être une expérience enrichissante et significative pour tout le monde, c’est la raison pour laquelle nous évaluons chaque membre pour voir s’il est capable de rester responsable, actif et respectueux au long du voyage.

Comme règle générale, vous devez participer à la majorité des levées de fonds pour assister à ces vacances. Nous pensons que c’est juste que tout le monde participe de façon égale au boulot nécessaire pour mériter ce voyage gratuit. Si vous n’êtes pas disponible pour participer à une levée de fonds à cause d’une raison légitime, des arrangements spéciaux peuvent être faits.

Cela vous intéresse ? Bien c’est maintenant votre chance de nous aider. Ce jeudi, le 29 avril, 2010 nous allons faire une collecte de bouteilles dans l’arrondissement de Lennoxville. Tout les jeunes intéresses doivent nous rencontrer au LYC vers 19h15. Si vous n’êtes pas disponible ce soir-là, vous avez une autre option. Ce samedi, le 1^er mai, nous allons faire un lave-auto de 11h à 15h derrière l’Hôtel de Ville. Encore, tous les jeunes doivent nous rencontrer au LYC vers 10h30.

The Olympic Games Have Arrived!

The Lennoxville Youth Center is celebrating the arrival of the 2010 Olympic Games by holding our own! Every night from the 12^th of February to the 28^th of February we will be holding an event in which you can partake. Every time you participate in an event, you receive a ballot which you can submit for the chance to win one of six awesome prizes! Every time you win an event, you get an additional ballot, doubling your chances of winning one of our great prizes! Up for grabs is a super cool hoodie, a gorgeous scarf, a handsome men’s t-shirt, a classy woman’s t-shirt, a stylish key chain and a trendy water bottle. Stop by the LYC to catch all the action. All members are welcome to participate. Remember, it’s not whether your win or lose, it’s how you play the game!!!

Calling all hockey fans!

The Maison des Jeunes Danville has invited us to compete in their 2010 indoor hockey tournament on Saturday, March 20th. This is a competition between different youth centers which offers the opportunity to make lots of new friends who share your enthusiasm for hockey. The tournament starts at 9:30 am and will finish roughly around 9/10 pm.

If you would like to know further details feel free to drop by the youth center and speak with an animator. We have a list of rules and regulations available for you to take a look at.
